Established in 1607 and declared as a state of U.S in 1912, New Mexico is known for its distinctive flavor of Indian, Hispanic and Anglo culture and tradition. Hurricane Chris is headed towards the Gulf of Mexico. If it strengthens prior to reaching Cuba and then travels between the Southern tip Florida and North of Cuba then it will go into much warmer waters and further strengthen. In August, the Gulf of Mexico waters are quite warm and this is like jet fuel to Hurricanes.
